Catherine Ford is a British actress who was born in Bloomsbury. Following the time her father's departure from her family, she was brought to maturity by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. Ford suffered from anxiety disorder caused by word associations as a young toddler. Ford's interest in acting began as a child. She was a part of in the National Youth Theatre. Ford gained entry to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but decided after a week that she wasn't a good choice for this school. Ford returned to Central School of Speech and Drama and, after the fourth time she applied, she was finally admitted. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler who is a character that was recurring for Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993, but she already had her TV debut in a 1992 episode of Surgical Spirit. She adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate appeared in TV shows such like The Bill, Men Behaving Badly, and London Burning. Tate was also a regular performer in the theatre, and later joined the Royal Shakespeare Company during its season 2000-2001. However, Tate soon began to garner notice for her stand-up comedy, which she added to her resume in the year 1996.
